Lipp is the opposite of the popular app Dubsmash. Where Dubsmash has you mime a long to your favorite scene or song, Lipp asks you to add your voice to scenes from epic movies, famous interviews, and popular TV shows. Do you have a talent for funny dubs?
Record your masterpiece to share
Lipp’s concept is simple: you choose from one of the silent videos available in the app, then add audio by recording over it with your voice.
The app draws on videos uploaded by its users. These are divided into different categories such as film, vintage, celebrities, sports, and music. If you don’t find what you are looking for then you can even upload a short clip from your phone or tablet.
Once you're happy with your recording (you can repeat it as many times as you want) you can save it to your gallery or share it via WhatsApp or social media networks – anticipate your Facebook timeline to fill up.

You can find the video you want by browsing through Lipp’s menus (popular, new, or categories) or searching for it directly.
In truth the search option could use some work. You must search for the exact hashtag, since the app does not recognize partial terms – though results do autocomplete as you type. So, for example, if you start typing "harry" the app will detect hashtags like "harrypotter" or "harrypoter" (yes, there are always misspellings).
If you decide to upload a new video it is very simple. Tap on the upload button and select the video you want. All that is left then is to trim the clip before processing, with the app letting you to cut from either end of your recording until you are down to the 15 second maximum.
Videos you upload will not be shared in the app with everyone. If you want to share a video with the community then you will have to upload to their website lipp.io, where the app’s creators will moderated it before going public. So yeah, no redubbing your favorite porn.
A fun app with room for improvement
Lipp is an easy app to use, but it is perhaps a little too basic. For example, a better search engine would make a huge difference, as would the ability to tap on a hashtag to find related videos. There could also be the option to share videos directly with the community – though I am sure this is in the works.
That said, we are confident that - if Lipp starts gain as much success as Dubsmash - the developers will start to add these improvements, and more, to the app.
